One of the simplest pasta dishes to prepare is pasta with white sauce. It is also among the most widely used pasta dishes. You can prepare pasta with the traditional white sauce or add some vegetables to make it more healthful and colourful.

White sauce pasta is a simple dish that combines cooked pasta with a delectable white sauce, sometimes referred to as bechamel sauce. Pour the white sauce, which is a simple preparation of butter, milk, flour, and seasonings, over the cooked pasta.

This well-liked vegetarian recipe is suitable for a quick snack or dinner. Add some mixed vegetables to it to make it heartier and more nutrient-dense.

Whole wheat pasta is always a fantastic, nutritious option when making pasta recipes. In this recipe, I’ve used whole wheat penne, but you may substitute any type of pasta you like, including other shapes like macaroni, rigatoni, or farfalle.

This traditional pasta dish can be made with mixed vegetables, which is a terrific way to serve vegetables to your family along with their pasta. These vegetables can be roasted, sautéed, simmered, or steam-cooked.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Butter - 2 tbsp
  • 1/2 cup Onion chopped
  • 2 Garlic crushed
  • 1/2 tsp Red chili flakes
  • 1 1/2 tsp Flour I have used whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup Hot Milk
  • 1/2 cup Cheese
  • 1/4 cup Carrots sliced and steamed
  • 1/4 cup Broccoli florets steamed
  • 1 tbsp Parsley chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Oregano
  • 1 cup Pasta Penne cooked
  • Parsley for Garnish
  • Cheese for Garnish
  • Red chili flakes for Garnish

Instructions

  1. In a deep pan, heat olive oil. Add garlic and saute for a few seconds. Add red chili flakes.
  2. Add onions and saute for a couple of minutes.
  3. Add whole wheat flour (or all purpose flour 2 tsp) and cook till you get a nutty aroma.
  4. Now add hot milk and mix it with a whisk (works better than a ladle).
  5. Stop whisking once you see bubbles. Add cheese and mix well.
  6. Now add carrots, broccoli, parsley, salt, pepper and oregano.
  7. Add pasta and mix well. Adjust the seasoning if required.
  8. Garnish with parsley, cheese and red chili flakes and serve hot.
