We Indians, believe food is god and we don’t like to waste food.  Many indian recipes have been developed which is made using leftover food like Chatpata Dahiwala Bread, Bread Poha or Shahi Tukda form leftover bread . Coconut rice, tomato rice or lemon rice with leftover rice.

Similarly, if you have left over idlis at home than there are many recipes like Fried Idli , Idli Upma, Masala Idli , Curd Idli or many more.

Idli Chaat is an amazing fusion dish where South meets North! Idli, the most common South Indian snack meets chaat, the most popular North Indian snacks. This fusion recipe is a perfect snack for any occasion.  These are deep-fried Idli cubes, served with coriander chutney and sweet chutney like tamarind chutney and topped them with yummy garnishes like sev, coriander and pomegranate seeds.

Idli chaat can also be served as an appetizer and is a great way to make use of those leftover idlis. It is an easy-to-make and delicious chaat recipe that would be loved by kids and can be served as breakfast or even as an after-school/evening snack.

Ingredients

  • 16 Mini Idli’s
  • 4 tbsp Curd
  • Big Onion – 1 tbsp chopped finely
  • 1/4 tbsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1/4 tbsp Roasted Jeera Powder
  • 1/4 tbsp Chat Masala powder
  • 1 tbsp Tamarind Chutney
  • 1 tbsp Green Chutney
  • 1/8 cup Plain Sev
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • Coriander leaves to garnish
  • 1 tbsp pomegranate seeds to garnish
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Toast idlis on tawa using butter.

  2. Arrange the mini idlis in the serving plate, first add curd, then add tamarind and green chutney then add raw onion, sprinkle roasted jeera powder, red chilli powder, salt and chat masala powder. 

  3. Finally garnish with sev, pomegranate seeds and coriander leaves.

  4. Serve idli chaat immediately.
