Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Onion finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic minced
  • 2 tsp Butter
  • 1 cup Peas boiled and mashed
  • 3/4 cup Milk
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper
  • Mint leaves few optional
  • Flax seeds to sprinkle optional
  • 100 gms Cottage cheese sliced
  • 1 tsp Chaat Masala
  • 4 Whole wheat bread slices
  • Butter to spread

Instructions

  1. Heat butter in a pan and add onion. Once translucent, add garlic and saute for a few seconds.
  2. Add boiled and mashed peas and mix well until the mixture is a bit dry.
  3. Now add salt, pepper and milk. Mix well and continue stirring until it the mixture thickens a bit. If it's very dry, then add more milk or water.
  4. Add some torn fresh mint leaves and switch off the gas. Apply the green peas spread on two pieces of whole wheat bread.
  5. Put a cottage cheese slice on each. Sprinkle salt, chaat masala and flak seeds.
  6. Apply green peas spread on two more slices and use to cover the sandwiches made in the above step.
  7. Apply butter on both sides (outer) of the sandwich and grill them both on an electric grill or on a flat hot griddle on stove.
  8. Crispy peas and paneer sadwich is ready.

Tips:

  • Paneer Variations: You can also use tofu as a substitute for paneer for a vegan version of this sandwich.
  • Adjust Spices: Adjust the spices based on your preference. You can add more green chilies for heat or increase the garam masala for a richer flavor.
